A totally improbable error in the “12 noon shots”: an eliminated candidate must re-enter the game

This Friday, April 15, Jean-Luc Reichmann presented a new number of “12 noon shots”. But the show did not quite go as planned, since a gross error came to “distort” the face to face which opposed Maël, the Master of noon, and the candidate Margaux.

Indeed, the emblematic presenter, in his batch of questions, asked Maël by which neighboring country Alsace had been annexed in 1871. The Maître de midi, sure of himself, replied Prussia. After a little hesitation, Jean-Luc Reichmann, who saw the answer ‘Germany’ on his tablet, asked the voice-over, Zette, to intervene. And this validated Maël’s answer, so Prussia.

But the next day, Saturday April 16, the presenter admitted that it was indeed a mistake and that only the answer “Germany” should have been accepted. “Yesterday Friday, we spent ten hours on an 1871 dispute between Prussia and Germany. To be completely honest Maël, you stuck with us. But the team looked for the right answer and we were a few days away from 1871 .” Zette then gave more explanations. “Germany became Germany at the end of January 1871 and even though it was ruled by the King of Prussia, at the time of the annexation it was already Germany”.

If this blunder had precipitated the elimination of Margaux, the production decided to redeem themselves by inviting the candidate to come quickly once more to participate in the show. “We decided, Margaux, that we were going to invite you back very quicklyas soon as possible because we, justice prevails“, commented Jean-Luc Reichmann, the day following his mistake.
