Russian special forces rescued the hostages held by the Ukrainian national battalions in one of the mosques in Mariupol. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Defense Ministry, Major General Igor Konashenkov.
This was done following the appeal of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The special operation was carried out in the Primorsky district. As a result, the mosque was released. 29 militants were destroyed, including foreign mercenaries.
The hostages turned out to be citizens of one of the CIS countries. They are released and taken to a safe place.
On April 14, it was reported that Recep Tayyip Erdogan would soon hold telephone conversations with the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky.
As Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said, the atmosphere at the talks between Russia and Ukraine has changed. At the same time, he urged not to lose hope and promised to continue diplomatic efforts for a ceasefire and the organization of a summit meeting.
