Nongo Stadium: Who is hiding behind the untruths of the nickname “Yvon Le Roux” (Press release from the Business Marketing Group (GBM)

COMMUNIQUÉ– In an article titled “Guinea: Towards the Deprivatization of the General Lansana Conté Stadium”published on conakrysports.com, a journalist, hiding behind the nickname “Yvon LEROUX” name of a former French international footballer, engages in untruths, speculation and manipulation on the form and content of the lease contract regularly signed between the Guinean State and the Business Marketing Group (GBM) as well as on the reality of the General Lansana Conté Stadium.

The Business Marketing Group (GBM) strongly denounces this article signed by the pseudonym “Yvon LEROUX”, who in reality is a Guinean living in Senegal, its sponsors and all those who pay into this campaign of intoxication of opinion by lies , falsification and editing of images to harm its image and its good national and international reputation.

The Business Marketing Group (GBM) reserves, by all legal means, the right to defend and preserve its credibility.

The Business Marketing Group (GBM) recalls that far from any mercantilism, it is out of patriotism, love for Sport and Youth, that its CEO, Mr. Mamadou Antonio Souaré accepted in 2016 to sign with the Guinean State a Contract of lease to make the Nongo Stadium operational, left behind since the end of the works in 2009. Mr. Siaka Barry, then Minister of Sports, had publicly and clearly signified this by acknowledging in his speech the following: «The State always puts forward the best interest to the detriment of that of an individual. In all states in the world, the public sector can turn to the private sector if the state experiences financial difficulties. Mr. Antonio Souaré will help us finalize the work on the stadium, they will manage it to amortize what they have invested in it and then they will return it to us, that’s normal. This is called a public-private partnership (PPP).»Since then, the Group has devoted significant investments amounting to millions of US dollars to make this Stadium what it is today. They have enabled the approval and recognition of the General Lansana Conté Stadium to host FIFA matches Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers and CAF for interclub competition matches.

The Business Marketing Group reassures the opinion that the heavy investments already made will continue throughout the duration of the Contract under the direction of the Business Marketing Group and the administration placed at the General Lansana Conté Stadium in Nongo in close collaboration with the Guinean State.
