Cannes Mayor David Lisnard calls on LR voters to help repay Valérie Pécresse’s campaign

“If each of Valérie Pécresse’s voters donates €3, the situation is settled. We can see it as a civic gesture, useful for the pluralism which makes democracy”, wrote via his Twitter account the mayor LR from Cannes David Lisnard to support the candidate and the party who find themselves in difficulty to reimburse the campaign expenses for the presidential election.

Solidarity “with this French team” even in “defeat”

On Monday, the Republican presidential candidate appealed for “emergency help”. She did not obtain the 5% of the votes (4.8%) necessary to trigger a reimbursement by the State of campaign expenses. She then asked “all French people” to help her “complete the financing of her campaign” by reporting a “critical situation” of the party which would not be reimbursed for 7 million costs. Valérie Pécresse also declared that she was “personally indebted to the tune of 5 million euros”. “It is regarding the survival of Republicans, and, beyond that, the survival of the Republican right,” she added.

In Cannes, where the mayor was re-elected in 2020 with 88.08% of the vote, Valérie Pécresse obtained only 7.01% of the vote. During the 2017 presidential election, François Fillon was a hit with 34.81% of the vote. David Lisnard assured that he would give, because “a” team of France “as it was mentioned, it is also in defeat”, he tweets.
