Dubai Electricity and Water Authority won 59 local, regional and international awards during the year 2021, bringing its total number of awards from 2015 until the end of 2021 to 383 awards (67 local, 67 regional, 249 global). The authority also recorded two world records in the Guinness Book of Records.

Among the most prominent awards it received was the Sheikh Khalifa Award for Excellence in the Distinguished Elite category in 2021, and the authority achieved a score of 850 in the evaluation, which is the highest score in the history of the award since its launch in 1999, outperforming more than 200 leading local and regional institutions that participated in the course. His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, honored the authority with five awards within the Dubai Government Excellence Awards 2021. And the Dubai Medal for the Young Employee, in addition to the special honor category – the Unknown Soldier. Regarding the “Smart Life” initiative, the authority was crowned with the banner of the Hamdan bin Mohammed Program for Government Services 2020.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, stressed that the Authority’s successes are the result of the work of the vision and directives of the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the State The Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, aiming to make the UAE government one of the best in the world.

Lowest waste in the world

The results of the authority outperform the elite European and American companies in many indicators. In 2021, the percentage of losses in the electricity transmission and distribution networks in the emirate was 3.3%, and the percentage of losses in water networks was 5.3%, which is one of the lowest rates in the world. The authority achieved a new world record in the average power outage per subscriber; Dubai recorded an average of 1.43 interruption minutes per subscriber per year.

International and regional awards

The authority obtained the Kitemark Innovation Certificate provided by the British Standards Institute, and the authority achieved an 8-star rating in the “Innovation Lens” award, launched by the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) to measure the culture of innovation and its role in achieving results in leading institutions on the world.

The authority also won six awards in the Diamond category within the “Harvard Business Council Awards 2021”. The authority won the “Main Institutional Category Award”, “Innovation Award”, “Covid-19 Dealing Award”, “Project Award”, “Information Technology Award”, and “Health and Safety Award”. The authority was also crowned first in the world in its application of the requirements of the International Standard Certificate in Customer Experience “ICXS” with its new update “ICXS2019”.

The fifth phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park, the largest single-site solar energy complex in the world, according to the independent product system, won the award for the best renewable energy deal in the Middle East and North Africa region, and also won the award for the “best renewable energy deal in the Middle East and North Africa.” Middle East and Africa for the year 2020.
