Cars in Russia began to get cheaper: dealers reduced the margin on cars

In March 2022, the cost of cars reached a historic high, but April monitoring shows that since then prices have rolled back, and in some cases by millions of rubles. True, we are talking regarding the cost of the car in car dealerships, while the price lists continued to take new heights.

In modern conditions it is difficult to talk regarding the specific price of the model. There are official prices (or recommended retail prices), which are determined by the importer and are, in theory, the same for all dealers. But even last year, once morest the backdrop of a shortage of cars, the cost of “live” cars from dealers turned out to be hundreds of thousands of rubles more than the price list. In March of this year, the trend peaked: for example, following the suspension of the Russian Volkswagen plant, the popular Tiguan crossover was offered by some dealers for 7–8 million rubles. But now prices have dropped, and for the top versions of the Tiguan they are asking mostly at the level 5 million rubles. But we emphasize: in this case, we are talking regarding the cost set by the dealer himself, and not the manufacturer.
