CD Projekt RED made a mistake in the report – most of the team is still busy expanding Cyberpunk 2077

Earlier this week, publisher CD Projekt shared a financial report that showed sales of The Witcher series, as well as the success of Cyberpunk 2077. Among other things, the company presented a schedule for the division of CD Projekt RED employees into projects. Today, the publisher noted that there was an error in the graphics.

According to the original schedule, less than a quarter of all employees worked on the expansion for Cyberpunk 2077. With so many hands full, the expansion’s planned release in 2023 was disappointing but understandable.

Here is the original chart:

As seen:

  • Yellow – support for Cyberpunk 2077

  • Green – Gwent

  • Purple – SPOKKO

  • Blue – expansion for Cyberpunk 2077

  • Blue – other projects, including the new part of The Witcher

  • Red – The Molasses Flood team

Now graphic updated, and it turned out that most of the employees are still busy expanding. How such a mistake was made is not clear. But here’s the new breakdown:

Judging by the schedule, 50% of the employees are busy with a large-scale addition. True, the release from this will not be faster. Given all the problems of Cyberpunk 2077, this is for the best, especially since over the past year, more than half of the studio’s employees fixed bugs.
