A third chartered bus of undocumented immigrants arrived this Friday in the capital of the United States from Texas, whose governor, the Republican Greg Abbottpromised send migrants to Washington who entered the state illegally.
The bus arrived in the US capital around eight in the morning local time and regarding thirty people were on it.
In the past few days, two other buses with 23 and 14 people on board had already arrived in Washington. Most come from Venezuela and Nicaragua.
Abbott justifies the transfer of immigrants from Texas as a response to the immigration policy of the president, Democrat Joe Biden, which he considers failed.
Various NGOs such as Casa or Carecen explained in a press conference on Thursday that the migrants who had arrived until then had spent very few hours in Washington. This is because they coordinated with relatives and acquaintances to travel to other regions of the country, mainly Florida and New York.
Last week, the governor of Texas, who is seeking re-election next November, threatened to send buses full of immigrants to Washington. This in response to the decision of the Biden Administration to rescind Title 42 as of May. By which undocumented immigrants were expressly expelled under the pretext of the covid-19 pandemic.
The people sent to Washington so far were captured by the border patrol on the Texas border, where they processed asylum applications, so they are free to move through US territory while their situation is resolved.
