Relaunch of tourism: the ONMT and the CNT join forces

This partnership will allow the two parties to unify their efforts in order to form a strike force vis-à-vis international competition and to initiate the challenges of relaunching the tourism sector at national and international level.

The Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) and the National Confederation of Tourism (CNT) signed, on Friday in Casablanca, an agreement, the first of its kind, covering several key aspects for the revival, which concern both the attractiveness of the sector as domestic tourism and innovation.

Among the main initiatives of this convention, the creation of two Task Forces aimed at strengthening the presence of Morocco as a destination with international travel prescribers, indicates a joint press release from the ONMT and the CNT.

This is an International Competitiveness Task Force whose mission will be to meet the markets to reassure and regain the confidence of international operators, as well as a Product Task Force whose mission will be to highlight the levers to raise Morocco to the top ranks of competitive destinations at the international level for golf, MICE, cruises, water sports, nature and hiking…

“The revival of tourism inevitably requires a general and harmonized mobilization of all the active forces of the sector. This partnership symbolizes the Office’s desire to work hand in hand with all tourism operators so that we can meet this challenge together,” said Adel El Fakir, CEO of the ONMT, quoted in the press release.

For Hamid Bentaher, President of the CNT: “Through this new partnership, we are working to support tourism players in order to strengthen Moroccan competitiveness. We are thus laying the groundwork that will make it possible to forge an industry that is more resilient, more creative, and better able to meet the challenges of the recovery”.

The Office and the Confederation are also committed to working to strengthen domestic tourism, by pooling their expertise to develop innovative and practical solutions to problems related to distribution.

Finally, the ONMT’s mission is to support the digitization of the sector by training newly digitized operators in digital marketing and by raising awareness of the importance of Big Data and presence on the web.
