Currently on screen, the 51-year-old Canadian-American actor plays a cop starting out in the LAPD.
The first time I saw Nathan Fillion on television, he played Katherine Mayfair’s husband in “Desperate Housewives”. The man has since changed register since he won the main role of the series “The Rookie”, broadcast on Fridays at 9:10 p.m. on M6.
A look back at his career full of ups and downs
Truly revealed thanks to the “Castle” series in 2009, Nathan Fillion nevertheless tried to break into the industry much earlier. Fifteen years earlier, he appeared in “You only live once”, BBC soap and obtained a role in “Saving Private Ryan” (although, from memory, I would be unable to tell you how plot point it happens).
The life of an artist is often thankless and Nathan Fillion then breaks his teeth on a series project. Indeed, “Drive” commissioned by FOX, stops following only… four episodes.
Fortunately, when you have the acting fiber and the passion, you don’t give up at the first failure!
Nathan gets back in the saddle (no, he didn’t do a Western) and gets back on his feet (he didn’t play a hunter either). He then slips into his famous role as a novelist who collaborates with the NYPD on criminal investigations. Rick Castle and Kate Beckett, police captain, make sparks as much in their professional lives as private since the romance between the two protagonists is never far away.
Farewell to his Rick character
After eight seasons and a commercial success which allowed the series to be exported, “Castle” comes to an end and Nathan must definitely say goodbye to his character of Rick. Not so serious since he rebounds by playing in several projects and in particular in “Modern Family”.
Two years later, ABC entrusts him with a new role: that of John Nolan, a man in professional retraining who, at 40, becomes the oldest “young” recruit of the LA police. A role that suits him like a glove and which allows him to play on a comic and more serious register all in subtlety.
It’s a series that we particularly like for its originality and the talent of its interpreter does not spoil anything… quite the contrary!
You can find “The Rookie” every Friday evening on M6.
