Tesla CEO Elon Musk attacked Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook’s parent company, Meta Platform, in an attempt to take over Twitter.
Market Insider, an American economic media, reported on the 15th local time that Musk criticized Zuckerberg’s shareholding structure by comparing him to Louis XIV, the tyrant who established the absolute monarchy of France.
Musk, who had over 80 million followers, responded to a question regarding whether a conflict of interest would arise if he took over Twitter at the TED event held in Vancouver, Canada the day before.
“As for social media ownership, Zuckerberg owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp,” Musk said.
Musk also insisted that if he took over Twitter, “it won’t happen.”
According to Insider, Zuckerberg owns 55% of Facebook’s voting stock, and Facebook gives some executives, including Zuckerberg, differential voting rights with 10 votes per share.
However, Insider reported that Musk, who owns a 17% stake in Tesla, has as much influence over Tesla as Zuckerberg, including veto power.
