War in Ukraine: 40th day of conflict.
French President Emmanuel Macron spoke this morning with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The two are expected to speak once more tonight.
Emmanuel Macron said he did not want to enter into a “verbal escalation” over the war crimes committed by the Russian army in Ukraine, refusing to speak of “genocide”.
A term used a few days earlier by his American counterpart, Joe Biden.
“It’s madness what is happening, it’s incredibly brutal (…) but at the same time I look at the facts and I want to try as much as possible to continue to be able to stop this war and to rebuild peace, so I’m not sure that the escalation of words serves the cause”had indicated the president according to information from Archyde.com.
“It is not helping Ukraine to enter into verbal escalation without drawing the consequences”he says on France Bleu. “The word ‘genocide’ must be qualified by jurists, not by politicians.”
