“There are personality problems within the PS and the MR”

Pandemic, conflict in Ukraine, rising energy prices… Since taking office, the Vivaldi government has had to deal with repeated crises. Little by little, the “De Croo method” has become essential to manage these delicate situations, but recently, this way of working has been criticized, in particular by the presidents of French-speaking parties.

Questioned by our colleagues from Bel RTL on this subject, the vice-president of the Brussels parliament Guy Vanhengel (Open VLD) delivered his analysis. “There is a difference of opinion between the North and the South of the country”, believes the Flemish liberal. “In the North, it’s not felt the same way. The De Croo method is rather accepted and supported. On the French-speaking side, I think it has to do with the personality problems on the side of the biggest parties, the PS and the MR not to quote them”.

Do you find that Paul Magnette and Georges-Louis Bouchez play a little elbow and ego with Alexander De Croo?“, then relaunches the Bel RTL journalist. “Absolutely, it’s a good translation.“, replied M. Vanhengel. “They do not always help the head of government and sometimes create tension”, observes the former Liberal minister. “It remains manageable but it does not always give a good image.
