After a trip to the North on Monday, President-candidate Emmanuel Macron went to the Grand Est on Tuesday for his second day of campaigning between the two rounds.
In the followingnoon, he met citizens in the town of Châtenois, where he was attacked by a man in his sixties. “I have never seen a president of the 5th republic as bad as you“, launched the man, visibly annoyed.
“Sir, thank you for having a lot of arguments to put on the table”retorted the candidate LREM ironically, deploring the lack of reasoning of his interlocutor.
“You are for retirement at 65. I retired at 65 but by choice, not by obligation“, then advanced the man.
“In a democracy, we can debatee,” Macron conceded.”But if you have ready-made ideas and you don’t want to debate, we’re not going to make it.”.
The two men then quarreled over the situation of hospitals and the financing of health care, without Macron managing to convince the citizen of Châtenois.
“I respect you, but you say very aggressive things“, lamented the president. “I respect you too“, added the man. “But I will never vote for you“, he concluded.
