The Disciplinary Council of the Belgian Union will consider this Friday at 12:15 p.m. on the follow-up to be given to the interrupted match between Union Saint-Gilloise and Beerschot. What will the Council decide? A forfeit score in favor of the Union, as the regulations suggest, as well as a fine of 10,000 euros and four games behind closed doors for Beerschot? We are headed down this path.
The pronouncement might already fall Friday evening or in the three days which follow. If no one appeals the sanction to the CBAS, the precise classification would be well known at the start of the playoffs. It is said that Bruges is following the file closely and would not understand that we give victory on green carpet to its competitor from Brussels. But from there to challenge the decision before the arbitration body.
Will Beerschot accept the sanction? Especially since these four games behind closed doors will not be easy. If the Disciplinary Commission follows the Federal Prosecutor’s Office and actually follows up on the request, the case might drag on even longer if Beerschot appeals.
