Anatoly Polyankin, rector of the Higher School of Performing Arts (Konstantin Raikin Theater School), dismissed Konstantin Raikin from his post as artistic director of the Institute.
“From today, by order of the rector Anatoly Polyankin, our school remains without an artistic director, who has been Konstantin Raikin since the founding of the school,” the HSSI student council reported (Kommersant has the letter).
They recalled that earlier the rector first renamed the school, depriving the name of Konstantin Raikin, and then, by his order, tried to suspend the educational process. According to the Student Council, Mr. Polyankin did not coordinate this break with the teaching staff, trustees and student councils and did not announce his future plans to restore the “suspended” educational process. Only thanks to the class action lawsuit and the decision of the court, which supported the position of the students, will they be able to finish their studies this year and pass the exams.
The HSSI Student Council considered the rector’s decision “unacceptable and contrary to the interests of students.” Student representatives called on Rosobrnadzor “to prevent the destruction of a unique educational institution.”
At the end of March, Anatoly Polyankin ordered the HSSI to be suspended from April 1 to June 1 due to the “deterioration of the financial situation” of the educational institution. On April 5, the court banned the suspension of the university.
Konstantin Raikin is a People’s Artist of Russia, laureate of two State Prizes of the Russian Federation, artistic director of the Satyricon Theatre. He founded the High School of Performing Arts in 2012.
