Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed, on Tuesday, that the military operation launched by his forces once morest Ukraine “will achieve its tasks and goals without any doubt,” considering that Western attempts to isolate Russia from the world “is impossible.”
This came during Putin’s visit to the “Vostochny” cosmodrome, in the Amur region of eastern Russia, on the occasion of the Space Day, which falls on April 12, according to “Russia Today”.
“Military operations in Ukraine are a protection for Russia and we have no other choice, and Russia cannot be isolated from the world,” he said, referring to international sanctions imposed on Moscow and calls for a boycott of Russian energy sources.
The Russian president considered that the objectives of the military operation in Ukraine are “completely understandable and carry noble goals,” according to his statement.
“Our main goal is to help the people of Donbass, which we recognized, so we were forced to do this because the Kyiv authorities, encouraged by the West, refused to comply with the Minsk agreements aimed at a peaceful solution to the Donbass issue,” he added.
Putin noted that Ukraine “is beginning to turn into an anti-Russian foothold”, while praising the performance of the Russian army in Ukraine.
And he added: “Today, our officers are participating in the special military operation in Donbass, Ukraine, providing assistance to the two Donbass peoples, acting with courage, professionalism and effectiveness, and using the latest types of weapons that have unique and unparalleled specifications.”
On February 24, Russia launched an attack on Ukraine, followed by international rejection and severe economic sanctions once morest Moscow, which stipulate to end its operation that Kyiv abandon plans to join military entities and remain neutral, which the latter considers an “interference in its sovereignty.”
