A Colombian investigator crushed to death by an elephant in Kibale National Park in western Uganda, the authority in charge of these parks announced on Monday.
Sebastián Ramírez Amaya, a researcher at Arizona State University (United States), was with another researcher and a guide at the kibale Park, known for its fauna and its research center.
“They came across a lone elephant that charged at them, forcing them to flee in different directions. The elephant followed Sebastian and trampled on it, causing its death,” the Ugandan authority that manages national parks said in a statement on Monday.
“There have been no similar incidents in the last 50 years in Kibale National Park,” they added.
In late January, an elephant killed a tourist from Saudi Arabia when he abandoned the vehicle in which he was traveling with his friends through Murchison Falls Park.
