Manuel Bompard calls on Emmanuel Macron to “make a commitment” for a referendum on pensions
Asked regarding Public Sénat, Jean-Luc Mélenchon’s campaign manager, Manuel Bompard, assured that the ” responsibility “ to convince voters “is first in the hands of the two candidates” finalists, and not in those of La France insoumise, whose candidate came third in the first round.
However, “the stake of the social question, as it was brought by Jean-Luc Mélenchon, must be in this second round campaign”according to him.
On the subject of pension reform, Emmanuel Macron “opened the door to a referendum, that he makes a commitment”he asked, because “we must not do things that are not clear”. “Me, I did not understand where he was ready to go”, deplored Mr. Bompard, following the Head of State said yesterday that he wanted to temper his plan to push back the legal retirement age to 65.
More “he will have to understand that, when we voted for Jean-Luc Mélenchon and the return to 60, there can be no question of postponing the age to 63 or 64”warned Mr. Bompard.
Finally, questioned regarding the notion of a “blocking vote” once morest the far right, he defended that “Playing Marine Le Pen’s game means voting for Marine Le Pen”, and not abstain. The militants of La France insoumise must soon be called upon, in a broad consultation, to say whether it is better, in the second round, to vote for Emmanuel Macron, to abstain or to vote blank.
