Percy Jackson: Disney + has found the main actor of the series

Preview alongside Ryan Reynolds in the film “Adam through time”, the young actor Walker Scobell will play the main role in the series “Percy Jackson and The Olympians” expected on Disney +.

Adapted from the famous series of novels by Rick Riordan – who will actively participate in the development of fiction for the streaming platform – the 13-year-old actor will play the role of this hero who discovers that he is a demigod, son of Poseidon. An intelligent boy, full of compassion, and armed with a solid sense of humor, Percy Jackson discovered supernatural powers at the age of 12. At the same time, he is accused by Zeus of stealing his thunderbolt. This marks the start of an adventure that will see the young boy and his friends embark on a journey across America to restore order to Olympus.

“Walker Scobell is an incredibly talented young man who blew us away with his audition tapes for the role of Percy,” Rick Riordan said in a statement.

“Many of you recently discovered just how great Walker is, watching his film Adam Through Time, in which Walker lit up the screen as a younger version of Ryan Reynolds’ character. We had the chance to audition Walker months before the release of this film, but this one only confirmed what we already knew regarding his talent. It was obvious to me and the rest of the team that Walker had the perfect blend of comedic tone, gentleness, rebellion, sarcasm and heroism to embody our hero Percy Jackson.

The development of the series was announced last January by Disney+. According to the revelations of Rick Riordan, who wrote the script for the pilot episode himself, filming is scheduled to begin during the month of June in Vancouver, Canada. The rest of the cast should be revealed gradually over the next few weeks.
