Watch.. One dead and 7 wounded in a huge explosion in an “arms depot” in southern Lebanon

A huge explosion occurred following 2 a.m. today, Tuesday, in the town of “Banaafoul”, far from Sidon district in southern Lebanon, 56 km from Beirut, killing the son of the town’s mayor and wounding 7 others, 4 of whom are in serious condition, according to local news websites.

A number of news websites stated that the explosion, which was heard from a distance of 5 kilometers, “occupied in an old store of weapons” near the Badiyah building, and was affiliated with the “Amal” movement led by the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, Nabih Berri, and also destroyed a scouting center affiliated with it as well. It took place at the Scout Center near the town hall.

The explosion damaged the building of the municipality of Benafoul, 17 km from the city of Sidon, as well as another building adjacent to it. As for the dead man, whose name is Ali Al-Raz, the son of the mayor, Haj Tawfiq Al-Raz, he “belongs to the Amal movement”, according to the local “Janoubia” news website.

Preliminary information indicates that an “electrical friction spread to a room for storing medium weapons belonging to a partisan party, which led to its explosion and caused a state of panic,” according to what was reported on the website of Al Hadeel magazine, the most published of the details between the sites.
