US pop singer Britney Spears is expecting her third child. She did a pregnancy test, the 40-year-old wrote on Monday in the online service Instagram. “I’m having a baby.” The announcement came six months following a court ended her father’s controversial guardianship. According to Spears, this had prevented her from fulfilling her desire to have children once more.
At first she thought, “Oh my… what happened to my stomach?” Spears wrote. Now her belly keeps growing. With the comment that there might also be “two in there”, Spears fueled speculation among her fans that the offspring might be twins.
Spears already has two sons, Sean and Jayden, with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. Federline has primary custody of the two teenagers.

Spears is now dating 28-year-old athletic trainer Sam Asghari, whom she has known since filming a music video in 2016. On Instagram, she wrote that she would be going out less in the near future to avoid the paparazzi. She did not give a date of birth. Her management also did not respond to an AFP request.
The singer of hits like “Baby One More Time” and “Toxic” was temporarily committed to a clinic in 2008 because of mental problems and was incapacitated. Her father Jamie Spears then took over the guardianship of his daughter and thus not only the administration of her personal affairs but also control of her assets. In November last year, a Los Angeles court declared the pop star’s guardianship over.
