Five months following being freed from the guardianship of her father, American pop star Britney Spears, 40, announced on Monday that she was pregnant with her third child.
“I took a pregnancy test… Uh well… I’m expecting a baby,” she wrote on Instagram, her preferred channel of communication during the 13 years of guardianship exercised mainly by her father Jamie Spears.
After months of twists and turns, a Los Angeles court decided on November 12 to return control of her personal life to the singer by ending the guardianship measure, which she described as “abusive”.
At the end of June, the one who had been revealed as a teenager by several planetary hits including “…Baby One More Time” in 1998, had struck a chord by telling the court that she was “traumatized” by her guardianship.
Britney Spears then explained that she had not been able to have her IUD removed, when she wanted to have other children.
On her Instagram post on Monday — under a photo of a cup and pink carnations — she talks regarding her past pregnancies and having already fallen into “perinatal depression.”
Britney Spears, who turned 40 on December 2, is the mother of two boys, now teenagers, of whom her ex-husband Kevin Federline has obtained primary custody.
On Instagram, she even mentions the possibility of being pregnant with twins and calls her fiancé Sam Asghari – 28-year-old sports coach met in 2016 on the set of a clip – “my husband”.
His fortune is estimated at some 60 million dollars and his fans are waiting for a new album and concerts. Her last record, “Glory”, dates back to 2016 and she performed 250 shows at her home in Las Vegas between 2013 and 2017 before putting her career on hiatus in 2019.
The guardianship measure was put in place in February 2008 following the star had shown psychological problems.
