Books – Ahmed Gomaa:
The emergence of a new mutation of the Corona virus called XE, raised questions regarding the extent to which it caused an increase in the number of infections once more worldwide.

The new mutant is known as XE, and it is a mixture of two strains of the Omicron PA1 and PA2 mutant.

And the Health Security Agency in Britain has detected 637 injuries to this mutator since last March 22, with preliminary discoveries dating back to last January.

Locally, Dr. Hossam Abdel Ghaffar, a spokesman for the Ministry of Health, said that preliminary analysis shows it is 10% more transmissible compared to 2.BA and not 10 times more transmissible.

He stressed that so far, there are no real public health concerns associated with this mutation.

This is what was agreed with Dr. Islam Annan, professor of pharmacoeconomics and epidemiology, that the rate of spread of the XE mutator is slow in society by no more than 10%.

In statements to Masrawy, Annan said, “This mutant is not more ferocious, and the vaccine contributes to making cases of infection mild.”

Regarding the sixth wave of the pandemic in Egypt, Annan added that in that wave there are no significant mutations or cause for concern, and it will be a mixture between Omicron and its derivatives.
