Presidential 2022 in France: Macron takes the lead, followed by Marine le Pen, herself closely followed by Mélenchon

Far behind, Eric Zemmour achieves 7.2%. All the other candidates are below 5%, including Anne Hidalgo who, with 1.7 of the votes, achieves the lowest historical level of the PS in France.

The last polling stations closed at 8 p.m. and counting is underway. The results given at this time of the evening are not yet final.

A large majority of “unfortunate” candidates in the first round called on their voters to transfer their vote to Emmanuel Macron in the second round, to block the far right. Marine Le Pen, for her part, received the support of Éric Zemmour.

According to several polling institutes, Emmanuel Macron would win the presidential election in the second round with a result oscillating between 52% and 54% of the vote, ahead of Marine Le Pen.

For his first day of campaigning between the two rounds, Emmanuel Macron will travel this Monday to Denain (Nord department) and Lens (Pas-de-Calais department).
