Pictures provoke anger in Egypt… Distributing bones to the poor

A state of anger dominated the pioneers of the communication sites following circulating pictures on Facebook of a charitable association in a village in the Alexandria Governorate in northern Egypt, distributing livestock bones to a number of poor women, and this was perceived as a charitable achievement.

The association provoked anger and ridicule with the pictures it published before it removed them, noting that the bones of the livestock “make a soup rich in important nutrients, enough for two or three days.”

While the pictures show, a number of women received “cattle bones” as a donation from a butcher, to cook them as a substitute for meat because they might not buy them in light of the high prices, as the price of a kilo of meat reached 200 pounds.

However, this behavior caused controversy and anger among the pioneers of the communication sites, demanding that the association that did this be held accountable.

For his part, Muhammad Ghali, the association’s official, said in statements to “Al Arabiya.net” that the association did not offer the bones to the poor, but rather offered the meat first.

He added that the association received a “calf” as a gift from a donor to slaughter it and distribute its meat to the poor on the occasion of Ramadan. The association launched a donation convoy in the Abis area in Alexandria, and the meat was already distributed.
