Sega brings new elements allowing to clarify its strategy of “Super Game”. While the firm has to face the evolution of the video game market, and it develops other parts of its activity such as film productions, how to go regarding developing quality games in a sector become ultra-competitive? Geeknplay gives you some answers.
Super Game: the new launch pad for SEGA
First of all, remember that SEGA recently signed an agreement with Microsoft mainly allowing the sharing of technologies intended to improve the implementation of its future projects. With this in mind, since last November, the project Super Game circulates in the corridors of the Japanese company. According to the snippets of information collected on this subject, this project might bring SEGA to invest more than $900 million over the next five years. More concretely, the project consists of a greatly improved launch process for the firm’s future major titles. The Executive Vice President Shuji Utsumi then explain this:
Several titles are under development as part of Super Game. And while every title is different, there’s no doubt that these will be interactive titles that go beyond the traditional framework of games. I think there is great potential in the relationship between gamers and viewers. We envision creating new entertainment that exploits these possibilities. Several projects are currently underway for Super Game. In my department, regarding 50 people are already involved in the first steps. We expect the final number of employees to be several hundred.
Shuji Utsumi adds that several criteria govern the membership of a game in the project Super Game. The title must be cross-platform, translated into multiple languages, have a worldwide simultaneous release date, and be rated as AAA. This allows us to understand that Super Game aims to create the future hits of tomorrow. These would be games capable of holding the chin once morest all the productions of the major competing groups. For it, SEGA might presumably rely on technology Azure from Microsoft. It’s likely that the project will also take games to transcend the boundaries of the gaming world.
What will the SEGA of the future look like?
SEGA is therefore really trying to change to take into account the changes in the video game environment. The idea is it seems to offer more global experiences, using technological and visual sets that might include NFT. Indeed, if the Japanese firm has long procrastinated on the issue, here is an example of more explicit communication:
The video game has experienced a great expansion thanks to the connection of various cultures and technologies. Social media and watching gaming videos are recent examples. It’s a natural extension for the future of gaming, which it will expand to include new areas such as cloud gaming and NFTs. We also develop Super Game from the perspective of how well different games can be connected with each other.
Finally, we can say that SEGA simply states its ambitions. The project Super Game will it provide a showcase for future titles from this firm that has marked the history of video games? Come give us your opinion in the comments!
