Surviving the Russian attack on Voronovka
Traveling by train from Poland… Ukrainian embassy unveils schedule ahead of time
(LONDON = Yonhap News) Correspondent Choi Yun-jeong = A citizen of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, presented a porcelain rooster kettle to British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, whom they met on the road.
Prime Minister Johnson received a rooster jug and asked if it was for wine or water. In fact, the jug is more than function.
The British Guardian reported on the 10th (local time) that the pottery rooster kettle survived the Russian attack and became a symbol of Ukrainian resistance.
The kettle was found in the small town of Voronjka, near Kiiu, which was in disastrous condition when it was resurfaced by the Russians.
President Zelensky even said that the situation in Voronjalka was much worse than that of Bucha, which was allegedly genocide of civilians.
High-rise apartment buildings collapsed, leaving only rubble, and casualties are estimated to be considerable.
However, the kitchen cupboard was barely attached to the wall of the remaining apartment, and a rooster kettle was placed on it. It was first designed by a famous Ukrainian sculptor born in 1895.
A photo of a rooster jug that survived a Russian attack quickly went viral online.
Prime Minister Johnson made a surprise visit to Kiiwu on the 9th to hold a meeting with President Zelensky, and as they walked along the streets, they chatted with citizens and received great hospitality.
Prime Minister Johnson promised to support President Zelensky in the amount of £100 million (regarding 160 billion won) in military aid, including 120 armored vehicles.
He had previously planned a visit to Kiiu, but was unable to proceed due to safety concerns. The visit to Kiiu following the invasion of Russia is the first among the G7 leaders.
Johnson traveled by train from Poland, and the trip to Kiiu would have taken at least 14 hours, The Telegraph reported.
In a video released by a spokesman for Ukrainian Railways, Prime Minister Johnson praised Ukrainian railway workers for playing a key role in fighting the Russian attack.
He told President Zelensky that the Ukrainians had shown the lion’s courage and that Zelensky had heard the lion’s roar.
Prime Minister Johnson’s visit was to be kept secret until he had completely exited the war zone, but the Ukrainian embassy in the UK informed him earlier, Mail on Sunday reported.
The Ukrainian embassy posted a picture of the two leaders having a conversation on Twitter and wrote ‘surprise’ along with a smiling emoticon.
