In what marks an unprecedented process in the formulation of a tax reform project, in the next few days the official call for citizen dialogues will start, the purpose of which will be to listen to and raise proposals from different civil society organizations on the principles that will guide the new fiscal and tributary pact.
The process, which will be led by the Undersecretary of Finance, Claudia Sanhueza, has a first stage of registration on the website of the dialogues, which will allow the start of citizen meetings, public hearings and, eventually, telematic meetings throughout the country almost in parallel.
Treasury will work together with the Consortium of Chilean State Universities (Cuech) to have spaces for state universities for participation instances. Depending on the location of those registered, all the cities where there are headquarters of these study houses will be included (for example, universities of Chile, Tarapacá, La Serena, Biobío and Magallanes).
At the end of the citizen dialogues, a report will be delivered that systematizes the main results to generate inputs that serve to discuss the design of the reform. The entire process is expected to take six weeks.
As revealed by the Finance Minister himself, Mario Marcel, In June, the entire content of the reforms will be announced, regardless of how it is subdivided into different tax packages that will be sent to Congress. Marcel has maintained that this decision aims to promptly clear up the uncertainties generated by a change of this type.
