The regional tourism directorate of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab recently held a working day with all the tourism investors in the region, in order to support them in accelerating the restart of tourist activity in the south of the Kingdom.
This meeting, which comes a few weeks following the implementation of an emergency plan of 2 billion dirhams to save the sector, was aimed in particular at identifying the needs of tourism players in the region in order to optimize support brought.
Indeed, the emergency plan put in place by the supervisory authority provides, among other things, for the granting of a subsidy to the hotel sector, for a total amount of 1 billion dirhams. The objective of this aid is to support the investment effort (maintenance, renovation, training, etc.) in order to accelerate the resumption of tourist activity in Morocco.
“Tourism professionals in Dakhla, as in other cities in the Kingdom, have suffered greatly from the effects of the health crisis. We are now seeking to support them in order to benefit from the subsidies provided for under the ministry’s emergency plan, in particular accommodation establishments which have seen their turnover deteriorate over the past two years”, indicates for Le360, Mohamed Salem Boudija, regional director of tourism in Dakhla-Oued Eddahab.
While several jobs in the sector were lost during this period, the meeting with the professionals was also an opportunity to discuss with the representatives of the National Agency for the Promotion of Employment and Skills (ANAPEC) with the aim to expose the various contracts available to date and the advantages to be seized thanks to the mobilization of the agency. And this, in order to accelerate the professional reintegration of workers in the tourism sector.
The point was also made during this meeting on the Awrach program, recently launched by the government with the aim of creating 25,000 jobs, targeting in particular people who have lost their jobs due to the Covid-19 pandemic and people with difficulties in accessing the labor market which are registered with ANAPEC.
“We welcomed with great satisfaction the emergency plan of the supervision which will enormously help us to resume our activities, following two years of gloom, but especially to rehire the employees who lost their jobs during this period”, underlines of his side, Abdelhak Bakha, tourist investor in the Dakhla region.
