One of the questions asked by the spokesman at the White House briefing in the past few days is whether President Joe Biden has tested negative for COVID-19.
This is because the number of confirmed cases is pouring in recently.
Spokesperson Jen Saki was also infected at the end of last month and was accompanied by a deputy spokesperson to President Biden’s European tour.
<젠 사키 / 백악관 대변인> “As I said before, we are tested several times before meeting with the president, and we test before we travel with the president.
Also recently, the first lady’s spokesperson, the vice president’s chief of public affairs, and President Biden’s sister tested positive one following another.
They all have one thing in common: they attended a dinner hosted by a prominent Washington journalist club earlier this month.
The explanation of the US media is that it has become the source of the outbreak to the extent that 37 of the event attendees have been confirmed so far.
As people who have direct or indirect contact with President Biden have been infected one following another, concerns are growing over the possibility of the 79-year-old President Biden being infected this year.
In particular, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who was diagnosed with the virus on the 7th, attended the same event with President Biden two days in a row before, and the two hugged and kissed each other without wearing a mask.
After a subsequent test, President Biden came back negative, but there is an atmosphere that there is no reassurance inside the White House.
White House press secretary Kate Bedingfield said in an interview with CNN that it is possible that Biden might test positive at some point.
<젠 사키 / 백악관 대변인> “He can still test positive, as many people in the White House did. We’re going to be transparent regarding it.”
That’s why the White House is taking precautions, including an outdoor celebration of the confirmation of Kurtanji Jackson, the first African-American woman to become a U.S. Supreme Court Justice.
