The time extension in schools, under debate

The Nation’s Minister of Education, Jaime Perczyk, announced that they will be Work tables with all sectors of the educational community to advance with the time extension in public primary schools throughout the country to achieve “a flat of 25 hours per week”.

“We are going to set up work tables with the different sectors such as unions, teachers and the Ministries of Education of the provincesto move forward with the time extension and bring the school day to a floor of 25 hours per week”, said the minister when he headed the 117th assembly of the Federal Council of Education (CFE) in the city of Ushuaia.

In this context, Perczyk met with the ministers of the 24 educational jurisdictions, the governor of Tierra del Fuego, Gustavo Melella, and the secretary of Education, Silvina Gvirtz.

“We have to promote this discussion. We are convinced that more days and hours of classes are essential to improve children’s learning”, he explained. He also specified that the debate on expanding class hours “begins written by everyone in the Education Law” and assured that primary school “has to be 40 hours per week.” “The objective is make it to that full day and where we cannot, we must achieve a 30-hour day and that no one has less than 25 hours”, he ratified.

In any case, Perczyk assured that extending the class schedule “will be done respecting all the labor rights of our workers, who are an essential part of our community.” “It is a very big job and investment, and this is for expand the rights of children and workers and with guarantees that the financing of the State is going to be this year, the next and all”, he highlighted.
