The US currency in Peru opened higher on Friday as the prospect of aggressive global interest rate hikes and geopolitical uncertainty keep investors cautious.

The exchange rate operates at S/ 3,718, a slight rise of 0.29% compared to Thursday’s close, at S/ 3,707, according to data from the Bloomberg agency.

So far this year, the greenback accumulates a decline of 6.84% compared to the last price of 2021, at S / 3,991.

On the other hand, in the parallel market or the main exchange houses, the dollar was bought at S / 3,680 and sold at S / 3,730, according to the portal .

Globally, world stocks rose but remain on track for their first weekly loss in a month as the prospect of aggressive global interest rate hikes and geopolitical uncertainty keep investors cautious.

According to the Archyde.com agency, the appetite for risk decreased during the week, since the minutes of the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank showed that the monetary authorities are willing to redouble efforts to curb inflation.

In US bond markets, benchmark 10-year yields rose 1.8 basis points to 2.6716, posting a weekly rise of 28 points.

The dollar has been the main beneficiary of rising US yields, with the dollar index hitting 100 for the first time in nearly two years as it headed for its best week in five.
