Los Angeles (AFP) – LeBron James will miss the last two games of the Los Angeles Lakers in the NBA with an ankle injury, the club announced Friday, which will prevent him from competing for the top scorer title.

The “King” missed the loss once morest the Golden State Warriors Thursday and the defeat once morest the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday, which ended the Lakers’ campaign in the league and prevented him from reaching the playoff qualifying for the playoffs.

The Lakers, the 2020 champion, said that following reassessing the injury, it was decided that the player would miss the last two games “in order to continue recovery and full recovery”, knowing that he has struggled to regain fitness since his injury on March 27.

With his absence from the last two games, LeBron will not be able to compete with Cameroonian Joel Embiid of Philadelphia 76ers for the top scorer title (regular league), which he won once in 2008.

Embiid averages 30.4 points per game out of 67 matches played, compared to 30.3 for James in 56 matches.

The rules stipulate that a player must play at least 58 matches in order to be eligible to compete for the top scorer.

This is only the fourth time in the career of LeBron (37 years), which began in 2003 in the league, in which he will miss the playoffs.

The Lakers play their last two games once morest the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday and the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.
