Pierre de Villiers joins the American giant Boston Consulting Group

It’s a nice catch for the world of consulting… Eight months following his resignation following a lively controversy with the President of the Republic over the defense budget, Pierre de Villiers joined the Boston Consulting Group in Paris. The former Chief of Defense Staff will become senior advisor for the strategy consulting giant from April 3.

At 61, this Vendéen was the youngest general in France. He will also be the first Chief of Staff, the highest function of the Army, to integrate the private sector.

Management of complex organizations

Drawing on his experience, both in the field of military operations, particularly in Kosovo and Afghanistan, and in the transformation of the French army, he will bring to the global strategy consulting firm “his rich experience in the analysis of situations and risks, organizational transformation and operational efficiency,” the BCG press release states. “The mastery and management of complex organizations will be very valuable to large groups, BCG clients”, continues the text.

Contacted by Les Echos, the consulting giant declined to comment further. As for Pierre de Villiers: “he has been explaining for a few months that he would like to share his experience on other fronts”, affirms his entourage, who adds: “The era produces more tacticians than strategists. And the world of the army has many similarities with the business world. He has a real role to play. »
