The president of Ecuador, Guillermo Lasso, will present an action plan for citizen security this Friday in Guayaquil, as reported by the Minister of the Interior, Patricio Carrillo.

MADRID, 7 (EUROPA PRESS)

“The ability to act that the Police have today, more than ever, has to appear, to demonstrate our commitment to security,” Carrillo said, as reported by ‘El Universo’.

The Ecuadorian Interior Minister has also mentioned the prison situation and pre-release benefits, the Government considers that prisoners who do not comply with the rules and who promote bloody prison riots “cannot deserve pre-release.”

For this reason, the Government of Ecuador will present “the reforms that are necessary” to prevent these inmates from accessing these benefits.

From now on, “no attitude will be allowed without a forceful response from the State,” Carrillo stressed.

Likewise, Carrillo has also lamented the incident that occurred on Wednesday in the building of the Comprehensive Care Service for Adults Deprived of Liberty (SNAI), in Quito, where a guard from the entity was shot.

Thus, he has detailed that the institution’s building had to be evacuated, as a precaution, because threatening messages were previously received. An investigation with the Prosecutor’s Office is already underway in this case.

Ecuador’s SNAI announced on Wednesday 1,400 positions for security agents in prisons within the framework of an intervention protocol to prevent new riots in the country’s prisons.

In addition, the SNAI reported on Tuesday the creation of a crisis committee to reduce overcrowding in the country’s prisons. In the Turi prison, located in the south of the country, on Sunday there was a riot that left 20 dead. Of the deceased, 15 bodies have already been handed over to their relatives and, of the five injured by the clashes, two of them have already returned to the prison.
