In February of this year, the cargo ship, Felicity Ace, caught fire south of the Azores and, a month later, it sank in the Atlantic Ocean. Boat transported regarding 4 thousand cars of various Volkswagen Group brands, including Porsche, Audi, Lamborghini and Volkswagen.
The German company refused to report precisely the number of vehicles of each brand that were on the ship; however, the BBC program, TopGear, got the manifest, which is a compilation of information on the merchandise that is transported on board a means of transport and, there, the list of cars that sank appears.

At the time, Volkswagen said in an interview for The Wall Street Journal that the loss of the vehicles was covered by insurance, for a figure that ranged $155 million; same that later amounted to a total of 440 million dollars, for the loss of the ship.
The Portuguese navy assured that the Felicity Ace lost stability and, consequently, ended up sinking. In his statement, he explained that there was only debris and “a small amount of oil where the ship sank and that the tugs were breaking up the oil slick with hoses.”
The ship sank 400 kilometers off the coast of the Azores, an archipelago that is an autonomous region of Portugal; The Navy reported that no one was on board when the fire started, as personnel quickly evacuated the ship.
