The Minister of Health, Ximena Garzón, indicated that the cases of covid-19 in the country have reduced considerably and therefore it is being analyzed that Ecuadorians can leave the mask in open spaces following the national Easter holiday.
In the country, the application of the second booster dose has already begun, and in view of this, Garzón indicated that they will continue to strengthen the vaccination plan to avoid outbreaks. In addition, he indicated that Ecuador has a sufficient batch of vaccines to apply the first and second booster doses to its population.
There is still no specific date to leave the mask in open places, but there is an approximate time of when it might be given. Given this, the president of the National COE, Juan Zapata, indicated that this measure will be evaluated 15 days following the holiday, because processions will be held nationwide.
After Garzón’s announcement, the Ministry of Health published the guidelines for applying the fourth dose of the vaccine.
Citizens who have received their third dose five months ago can approach the different health centers for reinforcement.
Also, who are over 18 years old and have been vaccinated abroad with doses of Janssen (Johnson & Johnson), but who received their first booster dose five months ago.
Only for travelers requiring a second booster dose (fourth injection) to enter a foreign territory, can be vaccinated 28 days following the first booster dose (third injection).
