25 percent of kuwaits annual deaths due to smoking

About 25 percent of Kuwait’s annual deaths are due to smoking, according to the chairman of the Cancer Awareness Nation (can). Khalid al-Saleh said. Fifty percent increase in the current price of cigarettes might save thousands of lives each year and reduce the cost of treatment by 33% (25 percent of kuwaits annual deaths due to smoking), he said.

He was speaking following inaugurating an awareness program organized by CAN in collaboration with the Smoking Control Society and the Olympic Walking Committee. The awareness campaign will focus on the Al Surra jogging track titled ‘Quit Smoking and Recover Health’ during Ramadan. The two-week campaign ends on the 20th of Ramadan.
