Marilou highlights her eight years of sobriety

The singer-songwriter Marilou celebrates her eight years without alcohol this week.

In a lengthy post on the Facebook page of her culinary blog Trois fois par jour, she shared her pride in having chosen herself and having made the decision, at the age of 23, to stop drinking alcohol despite the fear “of being condemned to live with pressure from outside, judgments and endless interrogations for the rest of my life.”

If the young 31-year-old businesswoman wanted to give her testimony of sobriety, it is so that people living the same thing feel less alone and to share the fact that suffering is not synonymous with unhappiness and that it is part of the process in order to be deeply happy.

“I am moved not to have let go, writes the one who explains that she no longer feels pressure or judgments, as was the case at the start of her journey. This uncomfortable passage would lead me to proportional comfort, a few years later. I was like a tree in the shade that was uprooted to go and replant it in the sun; painful for a moment, but so much more comfortable followingwards.”

She adds that it is the courage behind the big changes that she celebrates today.
