Active since April 1, this boarding tax is not yet claimed by all companies. Explanations.
If you have booked a Ryanair flight in the coming days or weeks, you must have received an email a few days ago. The latter refers to the new “aircraft tax” issued by the federal government and in force since April 1. In this email, Ryanair states that “on March 25, 2022, without giving any notice to airlines or passengers, the Belgian government introduced a new flight tax for all passengers departing from Belgium from April 1, 2022. This means that even if a passenger has booked a flight before March 25, which is due to depart from Belgium from April 1, airlines are required to collect this new tax from the passenger. There are different tax thresholds depending on the destination and the distance travelled. The applicable tax for your flight is X € (2 €, 4 € or 10 € depending on the flight and the distance travelled, editor’s note) per passenger.
