ABU DHABI, 7th April, 2020 (WAM) — Emirates Global Aluminium, the Saudi Arabian Mining Company “Ma’aden”, the mining company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and one of the world’s fastest growing mining companies, have agreed to extend their agreement to continue reviewing potential areas of technological cooperation within the value chain in the industry. aluminium.

The MoU was signed in Dubai by Abdul Nasser bin Kalban, CEO of EGA, and Riyad bin Saad Al Nassar, Senior Vice President of the Strategic Aluminum Unit at Saudi Arabian Mining Company, in the presence of His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Emirates Global Aluminium, Musabah Al Kaabi is a board member of Emirates Global Aluminium.

The agreement extends a memorandum of understanding signed by the two parties in 2018 in order to review ways of cooperation in developing aluminum smelting technology, including modern technologies aimed at reducing greenhouse gas emissions, in addition to the two parties seeking to cooperate in managing by-products resulting from aluminum supply chain operations and aluminum recycling. .

Abdul Nasser bin Kalban, CEO of EGA, said: “We are pleased to extend our agreement with the Saudi Arabian Mining Company “Maaden” to explore potential areas of cooperation in technological development with the aim of enhancing sustainability in the two companies, given that the speed of overcoming major challenges requires the concerted efforts of all parties concerned”.

For his part, Riyadh bin Saad Al-Nassar, Senior Vice President of the Strategic Aluminum Unit at the Saudi Arabian Mining Company, said: “Aluminum is one of the most important minerals globally for many global sectors that are moving towards a future focused on environment and sustainability, and this partnership aims to increase cooperation between The two companies join efforts to enhance sustainability levels in aluminum production.”

EGA has developed a special technology for aluminum smelting for more than 25 years, and this technology it developed in the UAE has been used in all smelting expansions since the 1990s, in addition to its modernization of all old production lines.

Ma’aden operates the world’s largest integrated complex for the high-efficiency aluminum industry in Ras Al-Khair on the eastern coasts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Its business includes a full chain of aluminum mining to its sale in the markets. The complex includes the Al-Baitha mine, integrated refinery, smelter, rolling mill and export facilities..
