[경제][뉴스큐] ‘Comments’ mixed with the reason why the price of Russian snow crabs plummeted

The lockdown situation in Shanghai… It also affected our dining table.

I was only informed that the price of a table has risen these days, but on the contrary, there are also cases where the price has gone down.

That’s ‘big crab’.

The words ‘big crab riot’ and ‘big crab run’ are even spoken of.

Russian snow crab, which was usually around 70-80,000 won per kilogram in the recent fish market, has recently dropped to 40,000 won per kilogram.

Why did prices usually drop?

After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the United States and Europe largely banned imports.

Then Russia turned its export route to China, and China also blocked major cities such as Shanghai due to the re-proliferation of Omicron.

This is because domestic supply increased significantly as exports turned to Korea.

In particular, as domestic wholesalers were worried regarding a shortage of inventory due to the Ukraine war, and even the stock they had secured in advance, poured into the market, the price fell further.

After all, the price of Russian snow crabs temporarily plummeted as the quantity imported into Korea increased significantly in a short period of time.

If so, what is the reaction of the online community to the general upheaval?

There were a lot of comments saying to eat quickly before it goes up, starting with the receipt verification that you ate a lot.

However, there is also the reaction that eating snow crabs cheaply does not mean that they will like them unconditionally.

After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Russian snow crabs, which the US and Europe refused to import as sanctions, were cheap because only Korea did not participate in the blockade, but it is not something they will unconditionally like.

Crab prices, which have plummeted, are expected to rise once more next week as major cities in China ease lockdown measures and inventory levels secured by wholesalers drop.

What did you think of the half price snow crabs from Russia?
