Saudi Crown Prince receives Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen

Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, Chairman of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council and members of the Council.

The Saudi Crown Prince expressed the Kingdom’s support for the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council and aspiration that its establishment would contribute to the beginning of a new page in Yemen that would move it from war to peace and development, hoping that the next stage would be different, noting the determination and optimism of all.

Prince Mohammed bin Salman affirmed the Kingdom’s keenness that Yemen enjoy security, stability and prosperity in the brotherly country.

Saudi Arabia welcomed Yemeni President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi’s issuance of a declaration establishing the Presidential Leadership Council to complete the implementation of the tasks of the transitional phase and delegate it with all its powers.

According to the Saudi Press Agency, today, Thursday, the Kingdom confirmed that its welcome to the Yemeni announcement stems from Riyadh’s continuous endeavor to support peace and stability in Yemen, and to reach a comprehensive political solution between the Yemeni parties to achieve peace, development and prosperity.

The Kingdom confirmed that Hadi’s issuance came in accordance with the Yemeni constitution and the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanisms; The new council will complete the implementation of the tasks of the transitional period, and delegate it to the full powers of the President of the Republic in accordance with the constitution, the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanism.

The Kingdom drew its full support to the Presidential Command Council and its supporting entities to enable it to exercise its duties in implementing effective policies and initiatives that would achieve security and stability in the Republic of Yemen and end the Yemeni crisis.

And Saudi Arabia announced that it had decided to provide urgent support to the Yemeni economy with three billion US dollars, represented in:

First: Allocating two billion US dollars equally between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, in support of the Central Bank of Yemen.

Second: Providing one billion US dollars from the Kingdom, including 600 million dollars for the Fund to support the purchase of oil derivatives, and 400 million dollars for development projects and initiatives.

Saudi Arabia also announced that it would provide $300 million to fund the humanitarian response plan announced by the United Nations for the year 2022 AD to alleviate the suffering of the Yemeni people and improve their living and service conditions.

She called for holding an international conference to mobilize the financial resources necessary to support the Yemeni economy and the Central Bank of Yemen and to provide oil derivatives.

The Kingdom urged the Presidential Command Council to start negotiations with the Houthis, under the supervision of the United Nations, to reach a final and comprehensive political solution that includes a transitional period that will move Yemen to peace and development, and for the Yemeni people to enjoy security and stability.
