Some banks impose administrative fees on requesting a paper receipt when inquiring regarding the balance from their ATMs from their customers, while other banks still provide this service for free, which coincides with stopping commissions on cash withdrawals until next June.
The banks that impose these fees exclude the bank’s customer’s query regarding the balance from their ATM machine from the fees in the event that the customer does not request a paper receipt and only reads the balance from the machine’s screen.
These banks have resorted to establishing fees for requesting a paper receipt when inquiring regarding the balance due to the suspension of their revenues from cash withdrawal commissions on non-customers, and the increase in the cost of purchasing paper rolls and inks on the banks, as well as the filling of garbage bins or the ground around the machine with receipt paper following being dumped by customers. And the machine stopped working more than once to charge it with rolls of paper.
The Central Bank had extended the suspension of commissions on cash withdrawals from ATMs to all citizens for the fifth time for a period of 6 months, ending at the end of next June 2022.
Masrawy provides details of the paper receipt application fee when the bank’s client inquires regarding the balance from the bank’s automated teller machines (ATMs) in 9 banks:
1- Banque du Caire: EGP deduction.
2- Banque Misr: 50 piasters discount.
3- The National Bank of Egypt: 50 piasters discount.
4- Alex Bank: Free
5- HSBC Bank: Free.
6- First Abu Dhabi Bank: Free.
7- Al Baraka Bank: Free.
8- Faisal Islamic Bank: Free.
9- CIB Bank: Free.
