FC Barcelona: an indecent clause in Araujo’s contract

The Uruguayan centre-back has extended his contract until 2026 with the Blaugrana and agreed to a €1bn release clause.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Ansu Fati and Pedri both have a similar release clause included in their long-term contracts and Araujo holds similar importance to the Catalan club.

Having made his debut for the Barcelona first team at the start of last season, Araujo has cemented his place in the first team, forming a strong partnership with Gerard Pique at the heart of their defence.

The next step for FC Barcelona is to reach a new agreement with Gavi.

The 17-year-old Andalusian midfielder, already a full Spain international, will also have a €1bn release clause.

Such transactions prove that FC Barcelona is on the right track. The club are currently second in La Liga and can boast an impressive roster of young talent as well as a top manager.
