P Mohammad Afzal, Sandra Babu and Marina George won silver medals for Kerala on the fourth day of the Federation Cup Athletic Meet. In the men’s 800m, Afzal lost the gold by a slight margin (1: 47.45). Krishnakumar of Haryana won the gold (1: 47.43).
In the women’s triple jump, Sandra Babu won silver in the 12.98m. Had won bronze in the long jump. Marina George won silver with 2283 points in the heptathlon.
Kripalsingh of Punjab (61.83m) qualified for the Asian Games in the men’s discus throw, beating the meet record of five out of six. Chanda (2: 02.11) of Delhi won gold in the women’s 800m. The meet ends today.
