After the failure of the Egyptian team to qualify for the World Cup in Qatar 2022, and before it the final of the African Nations Cup, both once morest its Senegalese counterpart, there is a lot of controversy over the fate of the coach of the Pharaohs, Portuguese Carlos Queiroz.
And following Queiroz himself announced his decision to leave the task of training the Egyptian national team to someone else “following everything was over”, following the loss from Senegal on penalties, the Football Association revealed that the coach’s contract is extended until next December, but there will be meetings in order to determine his fate .
Egyptian newspapers had said that Queiroz’s contract expires automatically if he fails to reach the World Cup.
On social media, there has been a lot of controversy regarding whether or not Queiroz will stay, and between his defender that he took charge only seven months ago, and between critics that he did not achieve any championship with the Egyptian team.
Queiroz had said at the press conference in Senegal following losing qualification for the World Cup in Qatar 2022, “After the Nations Cup, I wanted to meet with Senegal coach, Aliou Cisse, to win him, but that did not happen, perhaps if I worked with Egypt for seven years as It happened with him in Senegal, I would have won.”
He added, “I was hoping to get Egypt to the World Cup, but Cisse was the one who led Senegal to the tournament, and now I have to leave the flag to someone else to take over.”
Queiroz’s statements aroused the sympathy of some of his supporters, who said that he is trying to renew Egyptian football and wants to build a new team that depends on the youth.
And on Monday, the former Egyptian Minister of Sports, Khaled Abdel Aziz, tweeted: “Under the leadership of a technical director, our team scored one goal (the opposing team’s defender scored once morest his goal) in the last 450 minutes he played (regarding 5 matches), despite the presence of the best player in the world and top scorer. The English Premier League is among its ranks, and the Football Association is still thinking regarding renewing the contract with this coach, but it is the coach himself who is still thinking!!”

For his part, a member of the Board of Directors of the Egyptian Football Association, Helmy Mashhour, said that there will be a meeting, next Sunday, to decide whether or not the coach of the Pharaohs will continue.
Famous said in statements TV channel “On Time Sports”, Monday, said: “The majority of the members of the Football Association’s board of directors tend to continue Carlos Queiroz at the helm of the technical leadership of the national team.”
And the member of the Football Association continued: “Of course Queiroz has pros and cons, but his ideas will contribute to the development of Egyptian football, because youth, youth and the Olympic team must be taken care of.”
And the matter reached the parliament halls, where Representative Zaki Abbas, a member of the House of Representatives, criticized the Egyptian Football Association’s direction to renew Queiroz’s contract for the next four years, ending in 2026.
In a request for a briefing, Abbas addressed the Minister of Youth and Sports, according to the newspaper,SunriseThe Egyptian newspaper, Tuesday, said, “Queiroz took over the task of training the Egyptian national team in September 2021, and throughout his career with the national team, we failed to achieve any championship, starting with the Arab Cup, through the African Nations Cup, to his failure to qualify the team under his leadership to the World Cup.”
Abbas added, “In the face of these failures, we are surprised that the Football Association wants to renew it and its assistant apparatus to 2026, in exchange for a monthly salary of more than two million dollars, despite the presence of many national coaches and prominent names that can assume the task of leading our national team, So that he can return to his previous era of winning championships.”
The deputy also wondered regarding the role played by the technical director of the Portuguese Federation, Nilo Vingada, saying: “We do not know his specific role? And the task entrusted to him? On the basis of which he receives a salary from the Egyptian Federation treasury in dollars.”
