A few days before the first round of the ballot, French presidential candidates sometimes fire of any wood to scratch voices. This is the case of Eric Zemmour, who wanted to embed himself in the “Pixel War”, the pixel war having agitated the Internet in recent hours.

Flashback: on April 1, the Reddit social network made a collective digital web available to Internet users. The rules for participating? Each player with a Reddit account had the right to place a pixel on the canvas for free, every five minutes. He is free to color his little digital meadow as he sees fit. Despite the 4 million pixel canvas, the experience turned into a turf war, with the coloring space rapidly shrinking.

As a result, communities formed to form collective designs: video game logos, symbols of support for Ukraine, film images… a rather improbable patchwork quickly appeared.

In what soon became a pitched battle tinged with nationalism, the French online community coordinated behind Kamel “Kameto” Kebir. Very followed on the Twitch platform, this videographer encouraged his viewers to “spend” their pixels to draw a giant flag of France on Reddit. Other influencers and YouTubers (like Squezzie) then joined in the effort, calling for ” defend [leur] territory” once morest Spanish or North American pixels.

Defend the “beautiful tricolor flag”

In France, the “Pixel War” was not confined to the world of geeks, since the French Rugby Federation, in particular, invited its subscribers to join the momentum driven by Kameto. And since it was regarding to flatter the tricolor impulses of his fellow citizens, Éric Zemmour thought he had smelled the right thing, relaying this virtual mobilization in turn.

The teams of the far-right presidential candidate congratulated the “French Internet users who defend our beautiful tricolor flag”. “France needs you, the Reconquest is also done on Reddit”, wrote the former journalist on Twitter. A foray into the “” Pixel War “which has not been to the taste of all Internet users.

Initially set for Monday, the end of this battle of pixels has been postponed for several hours, given the enthusiasm aroused. As for its final “”result” (with lots of quotes), we let you judge:
