Supreme Court: Jackson’s appeal more likely

STORY: In the US, lawyer Ketanji Brown Jackson’s appeal to the Supreme Court is within reach. Because in the Senate in Washington DC, some Republican senators have now announced that they will speak out in favor of Jackson. It is therefore very likely that the lawyer might become the first black judge on the US Supreme Court. US President Joe Biden had nominated Jackson to succeed Judge Stephen Breyer, who was to leave in the summer. There is still a large majority among the Republicans in the Senate once morest the 51-year-old lawyer. But a few votes from Republican senators are enough for a majority. The decisive vote is expected on Friday.
